The contradicting observations of underestimation andoverestimation of residual tumor size in women receiving neoadjuvantchemotherapy for locally advanced breast cancer by MR imaging arederived from single institutional trials with small sample sizes; validation studies are needed with larger sample size and standardization chemotherapy regimens. Controversy also remains regarding the accuracy and most appropriate selection of measurements, which can be the single greatest diameter, two-dimensional or volumetric.
