Abstract

Sport medicine is no longer an optional medical specialty; the number of people involved in sport practice at the professional and non-professional levels is increasing. The choice of taekwondo as an example for many types of sports including those of speed, elasticity and agility and also other contact sports. Taekwondo is characterized by diverse kicking and punching techniques.The present study is the first in literature to study injuries incidence and severity in relation to level of taekwondo practice among Egyptian players. Players were collected from the team list of the national team as well and Egyptian shooting club taekwondo team. The data spans collected along one whole season 2007-2008 including local championships, senior world championship in china, world junior championship in Vietnam and Beijing Olympics 2008.
