Abstract

This study aims at finding the possible risk factors contributing tochildhood blindness. The following results were concluded: risk factorswere unknown in 59%, hereditary in 24%. Rubella was the mainintrauterine risk factor representing 6%. The main neonatal risk factorwas bad incubator care representing 4%. Avoidable causes of blindnessconstituted 78%. The major anatomical sites were lens (38%), glaucoma(26%) and cornea (21%)
