Rectosonography is a useful diagnostic method for staging cervical carcinoma, checking the therapeutic effect of radiotherapy following surgery and recently for determining tissue elasticity. Transabdominal ultrasound is routinely used in initial staging to exclude liver metastases, and obstructive uropathy.
