Fifty cases of unusual intracranial gliomas were included in this study. They included twenty-two cases of pilocytic astrocytoma (PA), seventeen cases of brainstem gliomas (BSG), four cases of subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (SEGA), three cases of ganglioglioma (GG), one case of Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA), one case of desmoplastic infantile astrocytoma (DIA), one case of hypothalamic hamartomas (HH), one case of astroblastoma (AST). According to the line of treatment used, these patients were classified into three groups; Group (1): (30 patients): These patients had tumor attack surgery alone, or accompanied with CSF diversion procedure, Group 2 (10 patients): These patients had undergone radiotherapy as the main treatment modality alone, or accompanied with a CSF diversion procedure, and Group 3 (10 patients): Patients of this group had undergone tumor attack surgery followed by adjuvant therapy, with or without CSF diversion procedure. Unusual gliomas are heterogeneous group of tumors that comprise different types of tumors, without common criteria, and variable prevalence, age and sex distribution, clinical presentation, line of treatment, and outcome.
