Abstract

Aim of the study was to determine prevalence of violence among students of Kasr Al Ainy Secondary School of Nursing. Methods: This is a cross sectional study that included one hundred and twenty students from Kasr Al Ainy Secondary School of Nursing during the academic year 2009/2010. A self administered questionnaire was used, it included sociodemographic data, domestic, school and community violence . Data was collected, revised and entered using the statistical package SPSS version 15. Results: Students were exposed to domestic, school and community violenceby 100%, 95.8% and 84.2% respectively. Around three quarters (73.3%) of students were circumcised. More than four fifth (85.8) of the studied sample had a violent behavior towards their families. Educational level of mother was negatively correlated to domestic violence. Violence adversely affected scholastic achievement. Abused students were more likely to be perpetrators of violence. Different types of violence were positively correlated to each other.
