This study was done to assess the incidence of hypocalcemia as well as to compare the incidence of hypocalcemia as a well known post-operative complication following different modalities of thyroid surgeries. This study included 30 patients underwent different forms of thyroidectomy for simple nodular goiter. They were allocated into three equal groups of 10 patients each. In group 1 total thyroidectomy was done. In group 2, near total thyroidectomy was done and in group 3 subtotal thyroidectomy was done. Preservation of parathyroid glands and their blood supply was attempted in all cases.
