Disability is a major stressor for any human being. In our Study we tried to describe the psychological sequels of becoming disabled, and discuss the factors modifying this process. The study is divided into a review and a practical part. The review includes the following chapters: Historical, Nosological and Psychopathological review, and the factors modifying the course of the bereavement process. In the practical part we described 30 patients who have become recently disabled and the factors, which modified their coping and depression. Results: The level of bereavement is predictive of consequent depression and its severity.
