Abstract

Over this decade, flow cytometry has evolved from a promising new technology to an indispensable tool in the diagnosis oh hematological malignancies. Many new anibodies, , improved gating strategies, and routine use of multiparameter techniques have dramatically improved the diagnostic utility of flow cytometry. A number of observations have emerged showing strong association between specific immunophenotypes and genetic recurrent abnormalities underlying the malignant transformation, with prognostic value.
