Abstract
Chronic HBV is still considered an important public health problem in Egypt, in spite of the decline in its prevalence as reported by the recent national studies in this field. We aimed at this study to detect the most prevalent HBV genotype among Egyptian patients and the possible correlation between this genotype and the clinical condition and the histopathological status of the patients. Using the RFLP technique all 50 DNA positive patients were proved to be genotype D.
