Abstract

The role of radionuclide imaging in the determination of myocardial viability is well known, Simultaneous perfusion & motion assessment of myocardial scintigraphy may significantly increase the diagnostic gain of E.C.G. gated Tc-99m-Sestamibi SPECT compared with an isolated perfusion assessment, Hibernating myocardium is said to exist when myocardial function is impaired as a result of critical coronary artery stenosis/reduced coronary blood flow in the absence of myocardial necrosis. Thus, detection of hibernating myocardium is of great therapeutic and prognostic significance.
