Diabetic foot defects present a burden to the diabetic patient, family members and healthcare systems. Studies showed that around 15% of diabetics will encounter this complication in their lifetime. Therefore, prevention and sound management of these defects are of utmost importance. Surgical management includes wound care, debridement, revascularization and foot reconstruction- amputation still has its indications. However, optimal results are attained only through a multidisciplinary approach where specialists in related fields form an effective protocol for management.
