Abstract

In this study, we examined the effects of preemptive epidural neostigminemorphine versus epidural morphine in lumbar disc surgery. The studyshowed that combining neostigmine to morphine prolonged the duration ofpostoperative analgesia without additional side effects. Furthermore, adding epidural neostigmine to morphine may decrease incidence of urineretention frequently observed with epidural morphine. Regarding IL-6,adding epidural neostigmine to morphine doesn’t significantly decrease itsintra and postoperative levels than using morphine only.
