Pulse steroid therapy is the parenteral administration of short bursts of suprapharmacologic doses of glucocorticoids. It has been used in-patients with severe bullous diseases, collagen diseases, malignancy, neurotrophic disorders, and vasculitis. Pulse intravenous cyclophosphamide and immunoglobulin are used in combination with pulse steroid therapy or used alone when steroid therapy fails, to treat a range of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Pulse prostaglandin E1 therapy is indicated in systemic sclerosis & Raynaud’s phenomenon.
