Abstract

The study discusses different methods used for soft tissue coverage of defects of lower extremity after compound fracture in trauma cases through reconstruction of the limb using local muscle flaps, fasciocutaneous flaps and free flaps. It also discusses planning for limb salvage & decision making between limb salvage and reconstruction showing the results of early and delayed coverage (before and after 72 hours of trauma) detecting complications resulting from delayed coverage. The study aims at obtaining a functional limb & encouraging early coverage.
