Abstract

"Ovarian reserve", generally describing the size and quality of the remaining ovarian follicular pool in patients undergoing ovulation induction in IVF programs. Several tests have been proposed to define ovarian reserve status to predict the outcome of IVF. The ultrasound markers of ovarian reserve, including the ovarian volume, the antral follicle count (AFC) and ovarian stromal blood flow Doppler, were compared with basal serum follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) for prediction of ovarian response to ovulation induction in IVF patientsThis study included one hundred patients and the role of the previous tools was studied in the assessment of ovarian reserve. It was found that FSH was statistically non significant, while the ovarian volume, AFC and two of the Doppler indices (resistance index and mean velocity) were statistically significant for prediction of ovarian response.
