Abstract

Recent studies recommend screening endoscopy for all cirrhoticsfor derection and eradication of varices-But,its costy and relativelyinvasive. The aim of present study to evaluate some of non-invasiveparameters for prediction of varices. The study included 52 patients withmean 42 ± 12 years with liver cirrhosis all subjected to clinical, laboratory (Liver and Kidney Function CBC, Platelet count an serumhyaluronic acid), duplex ultrasongraphy (PVD, PVV,PVCI andPVF).Conclusion: hyaluronate, plateletcount, PVD and prothrombinconc. are valide in identifying patients with high risk oesophageal varices
