In this study the different literature about the repair of soft tissue defects of the thumb were reviewed.It was found that the vigorous and immediate management of thumb injury is very important, as the thumb is the most critical finger for preservation of the hand function.Also it was found that the stability of the sensibility of the pulp of the thumb is so important for the thumb function.The using of the neurovascular is land flaps either homodigital or heterodigital or to pulp transfer which provide sensibility to the thumb is the main options for this reconstruction, and the skin grafts have no important role except for coverage of soft tissue defects on the dorsal surface of the thumb.
