Abstract

The aorta-iliac atherosclerosis obliterans or aorto-iliac occlusive diseases, Is one of the most frequent clinical problems confronted by vascular surgeons today . Digital subtraction angiography is considered the gold standard technique in assessment of these arteries. The major advantages of DSA are high spatial resolution images and temporal information regarding delayed filling of the vasculature of interest. However, the invasiveness of the procedure, and radiation exposure led to the need for less and non-invasive imaging techniques. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the role of MRA contrast enhanced moving table technique (Mobitrak Technique) with conventional angiography. This study included 15 patients. All patients underwent Mobitrak Technique and DSA. The aorto-iliac and lower limb arteries were divided into 21 arterial segments for each patient forming a total of 315 examined segments. The total sensitivity and specificity was 100 and 97 % respectively. No definite limitations could be detected to the MRA apart from being not widely available and expensive.
