Abstract
Spices such as cinnamon display insulin-enhancing activity in vitroand its aqueous extracts have been shown to increase in vitroglucose uptake and glycogen synthesis. Recent clinical studiesreported decrease in blood glucose and lipids in patients with type 2diabetes with the intake of cinnamon daily (i.e. cinnamon may bebeneficial for type 2 diabetic patients due to its hypoglycemic andhypolipidemic effects).
