The present study aimed at conducting a comparison between the diagnostic value of US and MRI in evaluation of the arthritic shoulder joint as regards various types of rheumatoid involvement. Additionally, these findings were compared with those of the clinical, laboratory and conventional radiographic findings.CR depicted shoulder joint affection in 5 patients (17%), US in 29 patients (96.7%) and MRI in 23 patients (76.7%). A moderate to good agreement was found between CR, US and MRI in the detection of subchondral cysts. The agreement between CR, US and MRI in the detection of erosions was poor. Similarly, the agreement between US and MRI in the detection of soft tissue Findings should be useful in determining how MRI performs in direct comparison with US.
