Abstract

Objectives: This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of different treatments in changingthe color of incipient enamel caries over one year clinical service Methods: Fifteen post-orthodontic treated patients had at least four incipient, non-cavitated enamel caries in their anterior teeth were selected for this study. For each patient the incipien caries of each tooth was treated with one of the following materials, resin infitrant system (Icon) etch-and-rinse adhesive (Adper Single Bond 2 Adhesive), calcium phosphate based remineralizin agent (Clinpro white vanish) and floride based remineralizing agent (Biflorid 10). Assessment of color was done using digital clinical photography before, immediately after the treatment, after month and after 12 month Results: Icon resin infitrant showed the statistically signifiantly highest mean (ΔE). There was no statisticallysignifiant difference between Adoper Single Bond 2 Adhesive group, Clinpro white vanish group and Biflorid 10 group; all showed statistically signifiantly lower mean (ΔE) than Icon resin infitrant group. As regard to the effect of time, there was statistically significant change in mean (ΔE) for Icon resin infitrant. For Clinpro white vanish and Biflorid 10, there wa statistically signifiant change in mean (ΔE) immediately after treatment, and after 12 months and no signifiant difference between 6 months and other follow up periods Conclusions: Icon resin infitrant had the highest effect in changing the color of incipie enamel caries
