Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the soft tissue response following advancement genioplasty using cone beam computed tomography. The study included six patients diagnosed as having retruded or deficient chin and indicated for treatment by advancement genioplasty. Assessment of Cone beam computed tomography in evaluation the soft tissue response after advancement genioplasty. All cases were subjected to advancement genioplasty using sliding genioplasty technique. Follow up of cases was done clinically and radiographically by cone beam computed tomography. The results of the study showed that the mean horizontal change of bony pogonion (Pog) was 5.5 mm, the mean horizontal change of soft tissue pogonion ( Pog’) was 6.1 mm and the ratio of soft tissue response to bony movement was 1.09:1 . In conclusion, the mentolabial fold depth increased as a result of surgical treatment.
