Abstract

Objective. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the efficacy of the use of ozonized oil in reducing post-operative complications after impacted mandibular third molar surgery. Study design. The included patients were randomly divided into two equal groups (15 patients in each group).in Group I (study group) ozonized oil was placed into sockets after surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molar and patients were instructed to use cotton buds as applicators to apply ozonized oil at the surgical site 3 times daily for 5 days starting from the second day postoperatively. While in Group II (Control group) Patients underwent surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molar without placing anything in sockets. Results. There was significant decrease in complications rate in the ozone Group. Conclusion. The study advocates the use of ozone therapy to improve the dynamics of clinical signs and to limit the intensity of postoperative complications after Odontectomy.
