Aim: This research was designed to evaluate the effect of scar reducing gel on unilateral complete cleft lip repair and the esthetic outcome of the resulting scar.Methods: Thirty patients were included in this study which they completed the follow up and photos were taken at 1, 2 and 3 months, these patients were divided into 2 equal groups: Scar reducing gel group, After primary lip repair by modified Millard cheiloplasty, the scar reducing gel was applied twice daily for three months. Placebo Vaseline gel group, There was the same application as first group.Results: Scar reducing gel had a better effect in the scar appearance via Vancouver scar scale and the difference was statically significance between scar reducing gel and placebo Vaseline groups. While there were no significant differences in scar width and philtral length between the scar reducing gel and placebo Vaseline groups.Conclusions: The use of scar reducing gel in infants after to cleft lip repair was effective and safe method to decrease the scar appearance.
