Abstract

Objective: The aim of the current study was to evaluate the efficiency of the piezo-electrictechnique in inferior alveolar nerve transpositioning.Study design: The current study was conducted on twelve patients, IAN repositioningwas done with piezo-electric device in conjunction with other surgical procedures.Results. Subjective assessment of patients: Through the whole study period (preoperativeto 12 weeks), there was a statistically high significant increase in the meanscore. Objective clinical sensory testing: There was no statistically significant differencebetween pre-operative score and score after 12 weeks).Conclusion. The use of piezoelectric device in nerve relocation is safe, precise, selectively cutting mineralized tissues, produces good hemostasis, simplify surgery andreduce the incidence of intra-operative complications although, it may cause somedegree of neuro-sensory impairment of a transient nature .
