Abstract

MRI is considered now the best imaging modality for evaluation of all marrow components with knowledge of the normal patterns of conversion of red to yellow marrow and of normal red and yellow marrow distribution. Vertebral bone metastases represent the most frequent affected region within the skeleton. They are of important relevance because of the risk of medullary compression. (MRI) proved to be more sensitive than conventional imaging (plain radiography and C.T.) at detecting skeletal abnormalities in haematopoetic malignancies
