The aim of this study was to evaluate histomorphologically the effect of VEGF local injection on orthodontic tooth movement of maxillary second premolars in dogs. Twenty dogs at the start of experiment fixed orthodontic appliance where applied to the dog's teeth to move the maxillary second premolar mesially for three months, following first premolar extraction. The dogs were divided into two main groups :In group one : tooth movement without injection vascular endothelial growth factor .In group two : tooth movement with injection of vascular endothelial growth factor .According to the results of the current work, the following conclusions could be withdrawn:1-Local administration of VEGF has possible clinical applications for enhancing efficient tooth movement.2-Regarding the histomorphic results VEGF administration increases the blood vessel number and angiongesis in the periodontal ligament of group two.
