This study was performed to determine the prevalence and pattern of a group of one thousand first visit cases attending to the PediatricDentistry Department of Cairo University, between March 2009 andDecember 2010.All age groups were included. Selection of the patients was done using random sampling technique. A full diagnostic chart was completed for each selected patient at the day of presentation. Then, analysis of the treatment provided to the patient till a definitive treatment is reached or for one month from the appointment written on patient s’ ticket. Of the one thousand cases, pain was the most common presenting symptom. Caries-associated problems accounted for 59 % of emergencies.The most common treatments for primary teeth was pulp therapy and cavity preparation while for permanent teeth was cavity preparation and endodontic treatment. Trauma cases accounted for 13 % of emergencies. Boys (70.8%) were more affected than girls (29.2%). The peak incidence of injury was between 7.5 to 10.1 years. The more frequent type of treatment indicated was endodontic treatment (60.8%) for complicated crown fractures. Results have shown that, 60.2 % of patients’ chief complaints were completely fulfilled, while 13.6% were half fulfilled and 26.2% were not fulfilled.Finally, results have shown that 57 % of parents were satisfied by the quality of service provided at the Pediatric department while 43% were not satisfied.
