Aim: this study aimed to asses: oral and dental finding in children with Autistic disorder, parents care for the children oral hygiene habits, parents care for obtaining dental facilities and children’s acceptance and behavior while obtaining dental treatment.Method: A total of 35 Egyptian autistic children were included in this study. Every autistic child included in the study was examined for dental caries, oral hygiene and gingival conditions. The oral and dental health knowledge and attitudes of the parents towards dental care was assessed using a self proposed questionnaire.Result: The examined autistic children had a relatively lower DMFT scores, oral hygiene status were found to be a fair level and all the children exhibit a milder form of gingivitis. There is a Neglecting behavior of the parents towards dental health. The duration of taking autistic medications has a strong correlation to the caries experiences.Conclusion: Autism is not a risk factor for developing dental caries, Thorough understanding of this complex neurological disorder is vital for the dentist for proper communication and socialization, Dental and pharmacological management of autistic children is a challenging process, and the best way to manage those children is under general anesthesia.
