Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of the Cerec different digitizing techniques on the marginal accuracy and internal fit of all-ceramic crowns using the Cerec Bluecam, 3D camera, Cerec inLab, and the Cerec Ineos Camera. A stainless steel die was constructed to simulate the average dimensions of a prepared upper first premolar with 6 mm height, 6° convergence angle, and a shoulder finish line 1 mm in thickness. The die was scanned with the four-cerec scanners and the margin accuracy and internal fit were measured using the stereomicroscope. Repeated measures ANOVA were used to compare between the four techniques. The mean and standard deviation values of internal fit were 127 ± 25.4 μm, 127.6 ± 27 μm, 116.4 ± 17.5 μm and 113.8 ± 20.6 μm with 3D camera, Blue Cam, Ineos and Inlab, respectively, while the mean and standard deviation values ofmarginal accuracy were 68.8 ± 14.8 μm, 34 ± 2.2 μm, 84.8 ± 13.4 μm and 56.8 ± 14.1 μm with 3D camera, Blue cam, Ineos and Inlab, respectively. Conclusion: The different digitizing techniques Bluecam, 3D camera, Inlab, and Ineos had no influence on the internal fit, however the Scanner type influences the margin accuracy of all-ceramic crowns.
