Abstract

This study stated a comparison of Electromyographic activity of masseter and temporalis muscles in patients wearing implant supported overdentures constructed with mandibular teeth set over crest of ridge (conventional approach) and implant supported overdenture constructed with mandibular teeth set according to neutral zone approach. Seven completely edentulous patients were selected. The age range was within 55-65 years. Patients had received two implants in the mandibular canine regions. The implants were immediately loaded with implant overdentures retained with two ball attachments. The results of the present study demonstrated that: the lower Electromyographic activity values with implant supported overdentures that followed neutral zone approach than implant-supported overdentures, which followed regular concept of teeth setting. Keywords: Implant supported overdenture, Neutral zone (NZ) Immediate loading, Electromyograpgic activity (EMG).
