Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate denture base material (Bre-crystal) in comparison with conventional polymethylmethacrylate acrylic denture base material (Acrostone) for polished and unpolished (fitting) surfaces.Twenty completely edentulous patients were selected from Outpatient Clinic of Prosthodontics Department, Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Cairo University. The patient were motivated and monitored for the maintenance of good oral hygiene.Participants were informed about the nature of the study and signed an informed consent form. Patients who agreed to sign this consent form were considered. This study was carried out on two groups of patients. Each group comprised ten patients.Group I: Each patient in this group received a complete denture with Thermoplastic denture base material (Bre-crystal) (Bredent Company, Senden Germany).Group II: Each patient in this group received a complete denture with conventional heat cured denture base material (polymethylmethacrylateacrylic denture base material) (Acrostone).Surfaces roughness was evaluated for the pervious groups (fitting and polished surfaces) by mechanical stylus profilemeter (Taylor Hobson).
