Abstract

Aim: to evaluate the effect of the denture cleansers on the properties (physical – Mechanical properties) on the two types of acrylic resin (vertex – versacryl) after immersion in the cleansers.Materials and Methods: Twelve rectangular specimens (5*3.3mm) from each types of acrylic resin (vertex – versacryl) were immersed in the denture cleansers for one month (coregatabs – fitty dent tablets – sodium hypochlorite solution) and then the flexure strength evaluated by the tensometer and the color stability for ten specimens from each type of acrylic resin were evaluated after immersed in the denture cleansers for 30 days by spectrophotometer.Statistical Analysis: The data were analyzed using student`s t-test oneway ANOVA test and Bonferroni`s post-hoc test. Results: All the denture cleansers effect on the color stability and flexural strength of both type of acrylic resins but the sodium hypochlorite cause the lowest flexural strength values(P=0.002) and the most color alteration values (P=0.001) the conventional heat cured acrylic resin exhibit more color stability and flexural strength (p<0.001) than the heat-cured thermoetastic resin before immersion. Conclusion: In the general sodium hypochlorite solution affection color stability and flexure strength of both types of acrylic resin. The heat – cured thermoelastic resin show low flexural strength before immersion when compared to the heat cured conventional heat-cured acrylic.
