Abstract

This study was carried out to assess the effect of two types of implants having different surface treatments on the supporting structures of tooth- implant supported and retained mandibular partial overdentures. Eight patients having partially edentulous mandibular Kennedy class I lower arches were thoroughly selected to share in this study. Dental implants with ball attachments were inserted in the lower molar region. Partial overdentures were constructed and delivered to the patients three months after implant placements. Clinical and radiographic assessments were showed higher bone level around implants with the laser sintered nano structured surface compared to the biologic organic acid surface treated implants, where A statistically significant higher difference bone height and bone density was evident around natural abutments on the laser metal sintered nanostructured surface implant after twelve months follow up period.
