Abstract

This study was performed for 3 months on 20 patients suffering from lower urinary tract symptoms of mild to moderate type due to benign prostatic hyperplasia. The participant's ages were between 55 and 72 years old. The patients did not ask before for medical intervention and they did not take any treatment before. Investigations were done, the first time in the form of: digital rectal examination, renal ultrasound to know the effect of obstruction on the kidneys. PSA and transrectal ultrasound were done to discover any cancer to refer the patient for the proper treatment immediately. IPSS and QOL were asked for and uroflowmetry was done to determine Qmax. Also, bladder ultrasound was used to determine the volume of the post void residual urine (PVR). Phytotherapeutic agents were used before as a single agent or as 2 agents, but we used a combination of 5 phytotherapeutic agents to increase the effect and safety for the patients. By using this combination of phytotherapy we found much more increase in the effect on the 3 parameters IPSS decreased by 68.177%, Qmax increased by 60.28% and PVR decreased by 70.1030%. Also, the Qol improved with a significant P-value of 0.004. So our results are more-superior than the other compound which meant that this compound is very effective. Treatment started by 2 tablets daily for 10 days then one capsule daily for 3 months, with follow up of IPSS, QOL every 10 days Qmax and PVR every month.
