Abstract

Plasma pentraxin 3 could be used as a marker for detection of severity of heart failure. Interpretations of plasma pentraxin 3 level need not be corrected for age, sex or hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, ischemic heart disease, rheumatic heart disease or cardiomyopathy as risk factors or etiological factors for heart failure. Further studies are recommended to Establish the role of inflammation in the progression of heart failure. Confirm the relation of plasma pentraxin 3 to severity of heart failure. Detect the relation of plasma pentraxin 3 to age, sex, risk factors and etiology of heart failure.
