Abstract

This essay discusses the basics of radiofrequency ablation lessoning and the application of radiofrequency ablation in various chronic pain conditions with emphasis on patient selection and outcome. It also documents the different RFA techniques to treat chronic pain originating from the lumbar and cervical facets, the trigeminal nerve, spinal dorsal root ganglia, sympathetic nerves, cancers, phantom limb, shoulder, post-operative and neuropathic pain and focuses on the value RFA in the management of these chronic pain conditions.
