Abstract
The present work is concerned with the evaluation of various techniques used in diagnosis of bancroftian filariasis. It was done in Marsafa village, Qualiobia Governorate, Egypt. 3118 of the population was studied by thick blood smear from which 34 were microfilaraemic. Further investigations were done to these patients and their close contacts as the sample study including 157 cases. The ELISA technique was the highest positive 41.4% (65 cases), followed by ICT card test 35.7% (58 cases), the membrane filtration technique 26.7% (42 cases) and lastly thick blood smear 21.65% (34 cases).
