Some Notes on the Nationalized Industries of U.A.R. and their Pricing Policies

I- Descriptive Introduction (a) Ownership The processes of socialization within the UAR have created three types of administrative organism in order to effect the purposes of the political Revolution. These are: (i) Certain types of public utilities which derive from the pre-Revol- utionary period which are now administered by the Ministries or by the Governates. Probably irrigation projects are the most imprtant of these. (ii) Certain newly created and some-what similar economic authorities which are managed in the form of a public organization. These have been created in order to control a particular and often distinct type of operation as for example that of the High Dam, and the Suez Canal.
