يتطلب رسم السياسات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، خاصة في الدول ذات الاقتصاد الموجه مثل الجمهورية العربية المتحدة، تخطيطًا طويل الأجل يعتمد على الدراسات الاستراتيجية للأنشطة الاقتصادية. تهدف هذه الدراسات إلى تحديد الإمكانات المتاحة للموارد الإنتاجية وتعبئة الجهود لتحقيق أهداف اقتصادية واجتماعية. يقوم معهد التخطيط القومي بإجراء دراسة طويلة الأجل لتقدير العرض والطلب على السلع الاستراتيجية حتى عام 1980. وتنقسم الدراسة إلى: الطلب على السلع الاستراتيجية: تُعدّه لجنة مختصة من الخبراء. العرض من السلع الاستراتيجية: يركز على الكميات المعروضة من السلع الزراعية والصناعية. السلع الزراعية: تحليل إمكانات التوسع الأفقي والرأسي في الموارد الإنتاجية. السلع الصناعية: تقدير الكميات المنتجة

The formulation of economic and social policies, especially in state-directed economies like the United Arab Republic, requires long-term planning based on strategic studies of economic activities. These studies aim to identify available production resources and mobilize efforts to achieve economic and social objectives. The Institute of National Planning conducts a long-term study to estimate the supply and demand for strategic goods up to 1980. The study is divided into: Demand for Strategic Goods: Prepared by a specialized committee of experts. Supply of Strategic Goods: Focuses on quantities available from agricultural and industrial goods. Agricultural goods: Analysis of horizontal and vertical expansion potential in production resources. Industrial goods: Estimation of quantities produced.
