في ظل اهتمام الكتاب حتى عهد قريب محصورا فى دراسة الكيفية التي يعمل بها الاقتصاد القومي، باعتباره مجموعة من الخلايا التي تتفاعل معا، تتعايش حينا وتتضارب حينا اخر، تملك كل منها القوة اللازمة للحركة في الاتجاهات التي ترغبها ، لا يحد من فاعليتها الا قوي الخلايا الأخرى ، التي تعمل فى اتجاهاتها الخاصة، التى قد تتعارض معها أو تتفق.

Until recently, writers have been interested in studying how the national economy works, as a set of cells that interact with each other, sometimes coexisting and sometimes conflicting, each of which has the power to move in the directions it desires, and whose effectiveness is limited only by the power of other cells, which work in their own directions, which may contradict or agree with them.
