يعد التكامل الاقتصادى ذو أهمية كبيرة سواء بالنسبة للدول المتقدمة أو الناامية على الرغم من تباين اهدلفه من مجموعة لأخرى.بالنسبة للدول العربية فإن التنمية الاقتصادية هى الاعتبار الرئيسى لقيام التكامل الاقتصادى بينها. حيث أن تخلف اقتصاديات هذه الدول وضيق أسواقها المحلية وضعف الأجهزة الانتاجية وندرة بعض عناصر الانتاج مع وجود التكتلات الاقتصادبة الأجنبية ومشاكل التجارة الخارجية يرجع من الصعب عليها مواجهة متطلبات التنمية.ولذا فإن التكامل الاقتصادى العربى بأهمية بمكان اذا ما أرادت الدول التغلب على تخلفها الاقتصادى ورفع مستوى معيشة السكان.

Economic integration is of great importance both for developed and developing countries, although its objectives vary from group to group. For the Arab States, economic development is the primary consideration for economic integration. The underdevelopment of these countries' economies, their narrow domestic markets, weak productive machinery and the scarcity of some elements of production with foreign economic conglomerates and foreign trade problems make it difficult for them to meet development requirements. Therefore, Arab economic integration is important if States are to overcome their economic underdevelopment and raise the population's standard of living.
