نستطيع القول أنه لا يوجد تعريف للتعليم يمكن أعتباره مقتعا دون ارتباطه بدرجة وثيقة بالبنيان الاجتماعي والاقتصادي وأولا وقبل كل شىء بسياسة الدولة ولهذا السبب فمن بين جميع التعاريف التي صيغت في بريطانيا كان تعريف "ملتون" للتعليم هو أكثرها جاذبية وليس ذلك لاختيار ألفاظه الرنانة وعباراته المنمقة ولكن لتأكيد أهمية العلاقات الاجتماعية.

We can say that there is no definition of education that can be considered satisfactory without its close connection to the social and economic structure and first and foremost to state policy. For this reason, of all the definitions that were formulated in Britain, Milton’s definition of education was the most attractive, not to choose his rhetorical words and elegant phrases, but to emphasize the importance of social relations.
