دراسة أهمية الصناعات الكيماوية فى الإنتاج الصناعى والناتج المحلى واجمالى الصادرات السلعية . ودراسة الوضع الحالى لمجمل قطاع الصناعات الكيماوية والتعرف على المنافسين المحتملين فى اطار هذه الصناعات فضلا عن فرص تنويع المنتجات التصديرية لتحسين النفاذ الى الأسواق العالمية . لذا اتجهت الدراسة لوضع معدلات الحماية الأسمية والفعلية والروابط الأمامية والخلفية والمشاكل المتعلقة بالطاقة.

Chemical industry has a great contribution in manufacturing sector and in GDP. Chemicals exports are also of great importance in total merchandise exports. This study aims at identifying the current position of chemicals industry in Egypt in order to explore the chemicals products with comparative and competitive advantages . The study also aims at focusing on the potential competitors in the industry as well as the potential opportunities to diversify the exports to get benefit from an increase in market access . The study highlights the current position of chemicals industry in the manufacturing sector . Then i( describes the economies of these industries in terms of the pattern of ownership, the effective rate of protection , forward and backward linkages and the idle capacities *The study also monitored the trends in global demand to specify the main world exporters and importers in international markets # The study measured (he real competitive position of chemicals industry using the revealed comparative advantage approach, the intensity of labor and other indicators of market and structural competitiveness. The study has done field studies on a representative Sample of & industries such as plastic and fertilizers , The study therefore concludes that chemicals industry enjoys the lowest rate of effective protection. Chemicals industry affects other sectors with 4 times & half its intermediary demand. Egypt enjoys comparative advantages in fertilizers, inorganic chemicals elements, soap and cleaning and polishing preparations. Also, the study shows a competitive advantage in favor of fertilizers, and plastics according to structural and price competitive approach. The study indicates that there exists efforts to improve the productivity of inputs in private sector in some fields such as : fertilizers , soap, cleaning , and plastics products
