Abstract

Generating electricity from a renewable, clean, and environmentally friendly source is one of the most important factors that support sustainable development. Using of wind turbines to generate electricity is one of the most important renewable energy sources. With the expansion of the use of wind turbines, it was necessary to pay attention to their structural design and to study many factors that affect this design. This paper will review the results of previous research in order to provide a holistic view of the design and stand on some points that need detailed studies. the authors review the different types of turbines and their implementation methods, as well as the different loads that affect the wind turbine. The biggest focus was on studying the effect of seismic loads on the design of wind turbines, taking into account the effect of soil structure interaction (SSI).
