Abstract

Axial pile loading tests on single pile may offer the justification of the pile design load. The objectives of this paper are to define the effect of soil contamination on the behavior of pile. Thirty-six driven closed-end steel piles were tested in laboratory in a very wide tank, the pile settlement was obtained by adopting the digital-photogrammetry technique. The analysis of experimental work carried out in this paper represent the relation between the different oil contamination ratios and the pile capacity decrease due to this contamination, this relations are very important to geotechnical designers to estimate the pile capacity of any piles driven in contaminated soil.
