Printed Monopole Antenna Design with Parasitic Element for Multi-band Applications
2021 International Conference on Electronic Engineering (ICEEM)

Abstract

A planar monopole antenna designed for multi-band applications which can cover the sub-6 GHz (3.8 – 7.91 GHz), wireless local area network WLAN (5.2 and 5.8 GHz), ku-band (12.59 – 13.92 GHz), k-band, 5G (19.9 – 27 GHz) and ka-band, 5G (34 – 38.49 GHz), frequency bands. The antenna is composed of a rectangular strip monopole in addition to the C-shaped parasitic element. The designed antenna is printed on a partial ground plane. In addition to the excitation of the extra bands of operation, the parasitic element also improves the bandwidth of the operating frequencies. The simulation results revealed that the proposed antenna has a high reflection coefficient, a wide bandwidth and high efficiency. The optimal dimensions of the designed antenna are 30 × 30 × 0.76 mm3. An antenna is built and measured. The results and its details for proposed antenna are discussed and elaborated below.
