Abstract

A green, simple and sensitive first-derivative synchronous fluorimetric method has been developed for simultaneous analysis of albendazole and triclabendazole. The method was based upon synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy. The synchronous fluorescence of both drugs was measured in acetate buffer, pH 4.6 at  λ of 20 nm using methanol as diluting solvent. The peak amplitudes (D1) were estimated at 325.5 nm for albendazole and 310.2 nm for triclabendazole. The method showed good linearity over the range of 0.08-0.8 and 0.18-1.8 g/mL for albendazole and triclabendazole; respectively. The detection limits were 0.012 and 0.049 g/mL and quantitation limits were 0.041 and 0.163 g/mL for albendazole and triclabendazole; respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to determination of the studied compounds in laboratory-prepared mixtures and albendest 5% suspension. The results were in good agreement with those obtained by the comparison methods. The method was further extended to the determination of albendazole and triclabendazole in spiked bovine meat, kidney and liver with mean recoveries were 99.91 -100.01%. The suggested method was found to be a green, rapid and low cost procedure, so it can be suitable for routine analysis of the studied drug in quality control laboratories.
