Abstract

The world is increasingly reliant on wireless technology for a diverse range of applications, including communication, navigation, and data transfer. However, these systems often face significant challenges, such as limited data rates, Quality of Service (QoS) issues, and growing security concerns. As the demand for wireless connectivity continues to rise, addressing these challenges has become crucial. Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) have emerged as a transformative and promising solution to enhance wireless communication systems, particularly in the context of 5G networks and future technologies. By dynamically manipulating the reflection properties of electromagnetic waves, RIS provides unprecedented control over the wireless environment, offering innovative ways to overcome performance limitations and improve overall system efficiency. This paper presents a detailed analysis of the integration of RIS technology, focusing on its ability to address critical issues in modern wireless systems. Additionally, it explores an alternative perspective on utilizing RIS in compact configurations, enabling integration into confined spaces like buildings, vehicles, and other spatially constrained environments.
